(rate this poem)

Ignite these thoughts with the turn of a key, listen to the lullaby of carbon monoxide
here flies fresh air to love at last, a breath to take me away in siren song ambiance
tired, exhausted from fire fights, my eyes close to smile, because it’s all a dream
so I guess it’s okay to finally sleep, and await what dreams may come
it’s not the same, it’s never the same, it’s never going to be okay
perhaps that’s why I start my car the same way everyday, but
today’s a new day in a playground prison of radio waves
forecasting a cold sunrise to mark change
pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters
Jesus will count worth exactly
thank God for his patience
for I’m still in the garage
with a tunnel closing
in outlines, so fine
so crisp to blur
I feel at bliss
so peaceful
nothing
